10ER question, has anyone done this?

Since the design is such that it could be metal to metal or in my case plastic to metal or perhaps plastic to a cushioned stick on........ I have some material that is used to make non-slip blocks I was thinking that I could also use it to cushion parts on the 10ER like this:

I have not stuck them down yet.

The red tool is a gasket cutter.

An interesting idea, I'll be waiting to see how it works for you.
That gasket cutter looks like a neat tool.
Oh, and I couldn't resist taking some liberties with your photo.

I like the face idea, now I'm sorry I didn't think of it.... or did I?
I haven't stuck them on yet and maybe will just sit them there to see how much room they use up etc.
I'm also thinking of some nylon washers between the swinging arm and the base, not sure there is enough room but I think I'll make some to test with.

Since I usually set the clearances at 1/2 the
tailstock thickness, my machines never hit
the ends.
(Tailstock, will only go about 1/2 the way,
on to the way tubes. That gives me an extra
inch for turning spindles, and I've never had
any issues.)
LIKE the smiley-face, Ron! reminds me of
Hughes Airwest, crossed with PSA. (Airwest
had the yellow color, and PSA had the smiley-
face.
