Shiny Red MkIV received from California

Greetings,

As I've been doing my own hand-cut dovetails for about 1-1/2 years, I decided to try something besides my old coping saw for the "wasting out" portion of the cuts.

This Knew Concepts saw has been highly reviewed for several years, and the aluminum version is now up to revision Mk. IV.

I have just toyed with it for 20 minutes and I believe it's going to be a humdinger of a fun tool. USA made, too!

It is turning out real nice.... however it doesn't substitute for care and practice. I've heard of guys practicing dovetails every night before dinner, etc., and I'm not one of them!

Nonetheless, working into the 2nd corner of a box in progress, this Knew Concepts saw pulled out a near-perfect trapezoid a couple of times. So the amount of chisel fine cutting is lessening now.

Yeah, I have a hard time working through sales hype...
Why, I tried 'hawking' Shopsmith in the Grand Canyon this past weekend. Wore my hat and all. But those goats said the legs needed leveling!

Here is the sliding-top box I finally finished... using recycled marquetry on the top!

Still every dovetail is a learning curve; nice tools help but they don't cover mistakes :) .

Well, I still don't have a power scroll-saw, but if I did, I'm realizing I'd like it situated pretty high, so I could sit at my stool.

Here's today's quick fix.

Using 2 nice wood clamps on the Shopsmith table (elevated) to hold up my fretsaw fixture:
