Here’s a couple pix of my compact shop in the back of my 3rd garage stall. I posted a couple of the rolling carts earlier. Since every thing is on rollers, I can pull cars out of the garage & have more space if I need it. Or out into the driveway if the weather is good. SS, SS accessory cart, work bench with removable vise & router table top, storage bench w’ moxon vise & fair amount of hand & power tools, air compressor, etc. A large tool chest I didn’t show. Also a couple of projects: outside deck & some (bar portion) of a basement renovation project. Of course always need something I don’t have. Would love a separate shop, but haven’t lived in one place long enough (so far) to merit building one.

Started with a 10Er, then a Mark 500 in the late 70's. Of course a lot of other tools along the way (radial saw, drill press, 6" jointer, etc) that I've sold.

Been a lot of fun. Really enjoy the latest SS.

Your bar looks fabulous! Where did you get the bar edge molding? It does look a bit large to make on a Shopsmith.

When my wife and I had our house built, we planned an eventual wet bar in the walk-out end of our basement. We had the drain pipe installed, and French doors installed for the walk-out. Well, the bar never happened, but babies did, and I eventually commandeered the space for my workshop. And I’m not about to give it up!

Wont be long and the snow blower needs to be closer to the door LOL!!

The oak bar rail was purchased in a 15 ft length. Then cut to fit the bar top. There are a couple of commercial styles available. I made the bar enclosure, overhead cabinets, doorway and walls, trim, inset shelves. Bought some of the rest and adapted it to the space. Put in new elect circuits, and so on. Took about 4 months every night after work.

Here are a few more pix of bar construction. I hired a guy to lay the tile. And a plumber to break into the septic line - but did the rest myself. Had to tear the room apart for plumbing & wiring, theatre wiring, etc. Cut into concrete wall for different access to crawl space. Was originally behind the sink area. Used SS (model 500) & a lot of other tools. Wished I could have hauled the SS down the stairs, but instead went up and down about 1000 times. Lower cabinets under bar were originally bathroom vanity cabinets but I tore them apart & adapted them for the bar. Added drawers, etc.

It all looks great! I don't think you said where you got the bar rail. Did you make the bar stools too?

I got the bar rail from a place called "Millworks" in Peoria, Illinois. They primarily carry flooring, but had some of the rail on display. They had a piece in their warehouse that was long enough for both sides of the bar. I've seen two types available. The other type is somewhat more vertical, so you lean against it, rather on on top. Don't know if they have other outlets.

I didn't make the stools - They were from "Oak Express" that is out of business now in our area. About $1OO to $120 each. Very solid oak construction. I couldn't come close to making them for the quality & price. I've learned to choose my battles.
