Is there a difference between these fences?

The drum sander fence (shaper fence) only seems to be sold as part of a kit (
http://www.shopsmith.com/ownersite/cata ... rfence.htm), which has a bunch of stuff I either already have or don't need.
On the other hand, the speed increaser fence seems to be the same thing sold separately (
http://www.shopsmith.com/ownersite/cata ... rfence.htm).
My question: are these the same fences?

I do not know, but my money would be on 'they are the same'.
I wonder if the shaper/sanding fence model disclaimer has a "7" / "VII" mis 'print'.

I too, had many pieces for the shaper and only needed the fence for my Mark 7. There was an offering from SS where the fence was available separately but it was for an assembly other than the shaper package, though I can’t remeb which package. I am certain the fences are the same or at least mine works well enough to consider it the same. It’s only been 3 years or so, but I remember the separate fence being much less than the $124 they are now asking (less than $100 and maybe less than $90)
Hope that helps.
Be well,
Ben

Thanks, Ben & JPG. I'll call next week and see if customer service can confirm if the fence is available by itself and at what price!

I dug back in my orders to see what I ordered after my 520 upgrade. I had ordered the 555113:
http://www.shopsmith.com/ownersite/cata ... rfence.htm
Shaper/Drum Sander Fence Kit.
BTW back on 12/31/2004 the price was $117.21
I already had the 500 version and I know I could have modified it to fit the 520 but rather then do that I went for the whole kit. It could be the fence wasn't a standalone option even then but I don't remember.

My "speed increaser" fence arrived. As far as I can tell, the fence itself is the same fence advertised as the "drum sander" fence, although it comes with fewer accessories. In fact, other than the fence, the fence installation hardware and wrenches, the ONLY accessory it came with was a "shaper table insert" -- which is same as the "drum sander table insert" except the "shaper table insert" comes with the starter pins, which I am glad to have.
Now, I don't actually own a speed increaser and don't have a plan to acquire one at the moment. I intend to use it as a drum sander fence, and to use it as a router fence with a homemade router table. I may also see if it can be adapted to use as a fence with the overarm pin router. The stock fence that came with the overarm pin router (two pieces of angle aluminum) leaves a lot to be desired.
I hope to start a project soon where all these things will be put to use....

The Shaper Table Insert has a slightly smaller hole than the Drum Sander Table Insert (2-1/4" vs. 2-5/8" dia.) Everything I can find makes me believe the fences are the same, just packaged differently. As for the question of "not for use with ER, M2 or M7" it is kind of a misprint. The 555113 Drum Sander Fence Kit will work with the new Mark 7 which uses the same table casting as the Mark V 510 & 520. It is true it will not work with the old Mark VII which had it's own Shaper Fence part #505508. It is only kind of a misprint since the old Mark VII also had Mark 7 on the label plate under the switches, but it would be clearer if the catalog stated M VII not M7 as they are generally known.

FWIW it has always been referred to as a Mark VII.(marketing literature etc. as well as labels on it) It remains a mystery why that one tag says Mark 7.
