Flute wood keyless folk

I am making wooden flutes. I am experimenting with hardwoods, other than the traditional African Blackwood, (increasingly expensive and hard to get). I would like to share notes about other potential wood types. Presently i am developing a design in beech, and another in loliondo (an East African member of olive family). Loliondo pretty, but not quite dense enough. Wood like to try hornbeam yew and holly if i can source some. Simon, Norwich, England.
