Ok. I give up. I have been trying to dismantle my new to me Shopsmith jointer. I have had no success trying to remove the featherboard. The exploded drawings have been no help at all. The spring underneath the featherboard refuses to let go. And how do I reassemble it so it again has tension. Can someone give me instructions please, or point me on the right direction ? I have ordered the user manuals back in the first week of December and am still waiting to receive them.

Welcome to the forum. I added the feather board guard to my jointer. The entire guard is rotated to put tension on the spring. Here is a copy of the upgrade instructions. Hope it helps.
