For those that have used the Shopsmith sharping Gauge for the lathe tools. I am trying to get the correct angle for the 3/8 in gouge P/N 555028. The instructions said to use the same angle and placement for all the gouges, but being a smaller diameter gouge i am getting too much of a point.The larger gouge is perfect.

Can you post a picture of the 3/8 gouge ? It will help diagnose the problem

There is a file size limit of 2MB. For pictures there is also an XY pixel size limit. The max is 2050W X 1180H. For pictures both must be satisfied. When you try to post a picture the page will scroll to the top. If the picture did not post there will be an error message. It is in the same font as everything else. It is not obvious. You may have to scroll down a bit to see it. It will tell you what is wrong. If your picture is out by both parameters it will only show one of them. If you don't correct them both you will get the error again with the other parameter.

I use MS Office Picture Manager to resize pictures. I just load the picture, click on resize, select 1024X768 and save. It takes care of both parameters.

I use an iPhone app called Resize It which works great.

I believe i figured it out. I wasn't spending enough time during the middle cut. I thought I would try it with the sharpening gauge. But I went back to the strip sander attachment. Better control.
