Robo Calls

My wife has been getting a robo call from the same number for 5 days that claims they are looking for someone but the person/thing is different every time. The voice on the phone is the same but there is a big pause before the name is said in a very different voice. Obviously a scam. They wanted a call back even if she didn't know the person.
She finally had enough after 5 days and went to file an harassment report with the Weber County Sheriff (we have no local police department). Wonder upon wonder the sheriff called the call back number and talked to someone and told them to cease and desist. He did a report and gave her a file number for the case.
There is hope!

Just do not answer!

Well of course she doesn't and it continues. She blocked the call and then they call back on a different number one digit different. Do the iteration.
My point is that the Weber County Sheriff actually called ad told the the person to stop and there is a police report

I let my answer machine get all calls now, if it is important they well leave a message. If I don't know them I don't call...especially since the IRS is after me, they said I owe them money and if I don't call them back to correct it, they are going to arrest me and put me in jail...lol...been after me for years, they sure are slow...also kinda odd that I got a refund on my taxes since I owe them money.....
seriously if you do answer these calls, be very careful about saying the word YES or I AGREE, I have heard of people getting charged for stuff they never ordered, and they use your own words to proof you did...they try to trick folks by asking right away "Can you hear me OK"...bait question to get you to say yes..I'll just repeat back I hear you. I agree they are annoying the do not call list is a joke and does nothing

I use a VOIP phone system that also tells me the SPAM % for the number if it does not have a name. I let my answering machine get all calls with a percentage figure and any I do not recognize. Even the voice mail notification email states the SPAM % of the number that left a message and how long the message is. I get a lot of 100% SPAM messages that last less than 5 seconds.

I get calls like that too, and just don't answer calls if I don't know the caller and number. Ignoring them is the best way to deal with them. They can't scam you if you don't talk to them.
If someone I know calls and they don't have their name on the ID of their phone (and most cell phone callers don't have that capability), they can talk to my answering machine first if they really want to talk to me.

a big problem with these scammers is they have a way to spoof the caller ID number. the number they are calling from is not the number you see and so far there is not a way to stop this or show the real number.
