Shopsmith Forums

We have a Shopsmith Mark V system that belonged to a deceased member of the family. It is lightly used and has various units and accessories, including many items still in their original unopened containers. We would like any guidance we can get in selling these items. Thank you for your help.

Shopsmith tools are highly sought after , the thing is selling on this forum is sort of forbidden,,,,, however if you can log on to facebook there is a shopsmith group there that list Shopsmith tools , you an post lumber and other tools as well , many here are on there , I am sure you wont have any issue selling them as a whole or breaking up the set . pictures are a plus and a location will also help .

The value of shopsmith tools depends a lot on location. Some places they are really cheap and other places the prices are a lot higher. Since the tools are heavy, especially the basic machine shipping is often not a good option and local sales are more the norm.

It also makes a difference on which model you have. Shopsmith has been around since the later 1940's and they have various models even today. A big step will be determining what you have and go from there.

Don't expect to make a fortune on the sale, there is a market but......

If you can post photos we can tell you the model. We can also tell you where to look for serial numbers which can date the machine. Pictures of some of the accessories will allow us to tell you what they are which would be a real help when you list them for sale.

In some cases family members are interested in uncles/aunts machine or grandpas/grandmas machine and while you may not make money that way it is nice to have it stay in the family. Another option to look into.
