question about angled mortise and tennon

FWIW and sake of conversation ,,,
Thinking in advance I need to make 4 bar stools , the legs will tilt in 5 deg in two directions, compound angles top and bottom, two 5 deg angled mortise joints per side ,4 mortise tenons total per stool leg , question is when using the mortise and tenon set up it there could be a issue of how to best accomplish this ,,,, the fence on the MKV table holds down the mortise hold down,,,,it { the fence } is in the way if I want to tilt the table on the 5 deg angle ,,, the table does not tilt front to back for the drill press operation,,,, if the table tilted from front to back for the drill press mode ,, like a compound miter saw head ,,,there wouldn't be a issue , any one ever ran into this situation ?
The legs are 2.5 x 1.5 x 24
Cross braces e 3/4 x 7.5 and 3/4 x 9.75
Mortise and tenons will be 1/2"
I may angle the edge of the 1/2 in cross brace tenon at 5 deg 1/16 in lip on each side x 1 in deep and then just cut the mortise at a straight 90 deg and trim the tenon to match.there will be non visible gaps inside the mortise where the tenon doesnt match the angle , I could make a 5 deg shim or a jig to put under the legs jut to cut the mortise on the 5 deg angle ,,thats a lot of extra work and material. or just cut the extra waste out with a chisel . any suggestions ?

Set it up for a 7° bore at 45° to those two 5° angles.(assuming my calculations are correct).
That will cause the legs to splay 5° each way.

thanks for the tip ,,,When I get started I will post some pictures as I go along ,might help explaining ,I would call this a compound mortise ,,,,
what I would like to do is adjust the table from front to back not right to left to cut the mortise ,,,there isn't enough room do to the hold down and the fence to cut the bottom mortise on the legs ,,,,unless,,, I just go with the straight mortise and trim the tenon,..but then the braces will be a different angle than the legs,,, not sure the mortise hold down leg would stay flat on the leg surface when the leg is on a angle to the bit either ,, with out a shim on one of the feet.
I was thinking also about horizontal boring position and a router bit.
I may be trying to over think it here lol

What 'shape' are the legs(square/round).
Ditto the braces.
I see the braces as being straight, but with 5° angled ends/tenons. Getting the lengths correct will be 'fun'.
The mortises are 5° from 'square', but parallel with the legs. I see that as a 5° table tilt. Hold down and fence should work almost 'normal'.(pun intended

)

I've made angled mortises using the Shopsmith in drill press mode. I did not use the mortise chisels, however. Instead, set up in drill press mode, tilt table to desired angle or mortise. Use the miter gauge with a fence extension and lock it into the slot as your fence. You can square up the corners with a regular chisel, if necessary.
Here's a picture.

The legs are 2.5 x 1.5 x 24
Cross braces 3/4 x 7.5 and 3/4 x 9.75
Mortise and tenons will be 1/2"
the legs and braces will be flat not round
algale That may be the best way , just not use the hold down and the mortise bit. I may need to experiment with the mkv fence .
Thanks

I am thinking(?) you need to use the rip fence to get the angle you need for the leg moriise.
Rectangular legs make the seat mortise much more tricky than I stated originally unless you use a round tenon or pin.
I also like router rather than mortise bit. You could use a mortise bit to square the ends.
Braces 13" apart?

Braces 13" apart?
===========
Still in th thinking stage so haven't done the math yet ,the braces will be different width,, the wide on on the bottom probably start the bottom brace some where around 4 in or so up from the floor end maybe 4in or so wide ,,,,, the top brace about the same or a little less down from the top maybe 3in wide , what ever looks good ,,that should leave some where around 7.5 or 8 in or so between them I think .

If you clamp your work to the fence or a miter with an extension as algale shows above you will not need the Hold Down to use the Mortise.

Thanks
Keep in mind I was trying to do this with a mkv table and fence and the mortise hold down,,,,,,I don't own a SS extension for the mkv fence so I would have to make one ,,,, . I can use the 510 table and fence however I don't own a SS extension for it either,,,,, I could make some thing out of 2in stock and screw a couple cross braces above the work to hold the stock ,,, and then clamp it all down to the table ,, then I cant use the mortise hold down , looks like the mortise hold down is on the way out lol?
