Quill Bearing Question

I have an early 80's Mark V and I recently pulled my quill assembly to clean and wax. It's a two bearing quill. I notice quite a lot of play in the bearing furthest from spindle. Looking into the assembly the bearing has 1/32 or a bit more play between the outer bearing surface and quill housing!
I don't know what's acceptable or with-in tolerance. Seems like a lot of slop to me.
I'd appreciate any input from you folks who keep your machines top notch shape. And with the sale I thought this was the time to ask for advice.
A big thanks for reading this!
