Hi everyone, I have just started using the scroll saw on the Mark VII. I‘m busy learning about blades, tension, and the like. Most of the recommendations I see for blade speed are based on material thickness and blade size. The blade speeds are in strokes per minute (SPM), but when I use the Power Pro screen to set the speed, it’s in RPM’s. I’ve tried reading all the literature I received with the scroll saw, but can’t find any conversion chart. Is there a chance anyone can steer me to where I could find one? Thank you, Artie

Each revolution of the spindle makes the blade do one stroke. So 1 rpm = 1 stroke per minute.

It is just like the difference between a duck.
There is no difference, one leg is both the same.

If only everything were this simple!!!



BTW you have a mark 7, not a Mark VII(a very different 'duck').

Thank you for the heads up! I’m gonna have to look at the screen more closely next time I use it. I thought when I went to scroll saw, it came up at 1725 RPM. I’m thinking I’m not looking close enough, and the RPM is 725, not 1725. The scroll saw seemed to be at a much slower SPM than that. I keep confusing Mark VII and Mark 7. I’m really liking the scroll saw, only drawback is not being able to use a foot switch.

Fear not! A LOT of folks are confused re Mark 5 and Mark V as well.

It really makes no difference until referring to a problem that requires understanding which model is relevant.

I believe being totally consistent prevents inadvertent confusion.(end rant )

Do keep in mind the scroll saw attaches to the lower shaft so the one to one doesn't work. The jig saw on the other hand attaches to the top shaft and the one to one does work.
