My son came close to buying a 10-ER last week.

There was an annual consignment auction at the next town east of us. It was actually an on-line auction but since the warehouse was only about 18 miles away he was able to go look at what they had the day before. He did bid on quite a few items but in many cases somebody else wanted it more than he did.
He did buy a 15' bat-wing mower, 4 livestock gates, a welding cart (for his new torch set) and a batch of "miscellaneous" items including a lawn tractor rear axle with wheels and tires, a starter for "something" (included) and one item that may pay him well. That item was a transmission for a Model A Ford that he bought for $7. They don't make those anymore you know.
I went with him to pick his stuff up so I saw the 10-ER.
The 10-ER which looked complete and pretty good generally in spite of being filthy dirty included a large box of extras. He didn't really want it but it was selling quite cheap and the bidding was slow to start. He only bid a little on it because he saw that it had a SS mortising set in the box and he didn't know that I owned a set. Actually I have 2. One is used and has 1/4", 3/8" and 1/2" chisels and bits. The other has not been used but only has the 3/8" chisel and bit.
The thing that caught my eye that made me wish that he had kept bidding a little was that it had the variable speed drive which seemed perfect and my 10-ER doesn't have one. It sticks in my head that he said it only sold for about $40.
Things were a bit busy with folks paying for and picking up their stuff etc. so I failed to take a pic of the 10-ER. A second shot down into that big box might have been interesting too.
