As promised, I put the 1954 restored manual in the “1954+ Mark 5” folder on My Google Drive where I put the “Mark 5 1954 Exploded Parts Diagram reworked Axes Perspectives and Supplemental Illustrations.PDF” earlier this week.

It is a straight document restoration, nothing more. Some of it was out of focus and some stains affected the print in some areas.

I got 32 pages from Russ Chapman, and you now have 32 pages. No additions as it was restored, not rewritten.

Print Warning: It is 11 x 17 to give the best rendering of images and text. If you print it, be sure to tell your printer to scale it to the paper you have.

I will start on Wileys version in a few weeks, which we believe is the next Mark 5 version manual.

We have been calling it a Mark 5 for years. Shopsmith actually called M5 in the first 1954 manual....

and Yes, they called it a Mark 5 on the vent plate .... I know.... Just one of those things I noticed in the manual...

Update Jul 8 2018 Due to weather moving through here, I was able to finish both ahead of projected time.

Sorta like the Mark VII on the vent plate and Mark 7 on the front tag.

Left hand not see what the right hand does... :D

Maybe the same 'individual' in 'all' cases?

You may be right. Lots of questions still to answer.

Both 1st and 2nd Mark 5 Owner's Guides are now available for downloading and as always, Free.

From the link benmcn gave above click on the My Google Drive and on the Google Drive page go to 1954+ Mark 5. In there you will find the first three editions of the Mark 5 Owner's Guide from March 1954, July 1954 and April 1955. Everett has restored these Owner's Guides plus many other documents for us to use free of charge.

If you need a more current Mark V manual, I recommend the summary manuals at the bottom of the page at the following link.

https://www.shopsmith.com/service/mark/index.htm

These will help you get started but if you have a later Mark V you can buy a complete from Shopsmith at the link below.

https://www.shopsmith.com/ownersite/cat ... sindex.htm

Both links above are pages here on the Shopsmith website.
