Tonight I finished the presumed 2nd Released manual for the original 1954 Mark 5 (M5) as they reference it in the manual.

Many thanks to Wiley Wells who scanned his copy enabling me to work on this important piece of history.

Again, I restored, not re-wrote from scratch. It does answer a few questions.

It shows the two bearing retainer clips, but still predates the addition of the Clutch in the Gilmer Drive, thus it too was direct drive as the first manual I got from Russ Chapman.

Warning if you print This document is 11 x 17 and you will need to instruct your printer to scale it to print on the size paper you have.

I believe the Drive Sleeve Assembly part number 202100 is the clutch Drive Sleeve and is the same assembly & part number in my manual we believe is the third one and later ones I have through the 1950's. Sorry I have not had time yet to scan the Third Manual. Just finished putting sheetrock on the ceiling in the room I am redoing and am taking a short break before getting back to the "honey do's".

I totally understand. Had we not had weather moving through here which gave me time to work on the project it would have been weeks before I could have finished #2.

I look forward to restoring #3 and all that you are willing to share for restoration.

I try to give back to the Shopsmith community here and preserve and discover history. I seek to restore every manual up to the point Shopsmith sells them.

The more difficult things to find, the more value we add to the community.
