Anyone else know how to adjust the way tube locking knob so that you don't bust your knuckles when adjusting the speed? So tired of hitting the "wing" of that knob. Thanks in advance.

Is the speed control crank etc. mounted on the side if the 'ears' AWAY from the headstock?
WHOOPS! I was thinking 10 speed changer.

I have the same problem with my 520. I ask this question a few years back and the general consensus was that there was no adjustment that will change the "tightened" position of the headstock lock wingnut. As I recall, someone suggested grinding down the wings - which I did not do.

There's a roll pin that passes through the lock knob and the rod that holds the wedges. You might try re-drilling the lock knob so the holes are 180 degrees from their present location.

Isn't that the same hole from the other side?

LoL! Indeed. I should have said 90 degrees!

Filing the wedge contact surface by 1/8 the thread pitch on each wedge should move the wing nut 90°.
An angle of 45° past vertical seems desirable.
