What is the recommended speed setting for the bandsaw? So far i have kept the SS 520 in the lowest speed when operating the band saw. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

It depends both on what you are cutting and what kind of blade you are using (both width and tooth per inch count). Power Tool Woodworking for Everyone has a section with recommended speed combos.

These are the band saw speeds in Mark V speed cart I go when I got my 520. Hope it is helpful.
