Second 10ER Ready to Use

Post by dzawacki »

A while ago, I got a 10er off a guy on Craigslist for free. It came one step above a bucket of bolts. It was mostly seized by rust. The guy I got it from wanted to restore it but never found the time.

That was nine months ago and I finally found the time to complete the restoration.

This is what it looked like when I got it.

I think my favorite part about this machine is the original SS casters that came with it. A wheel on each was seized but some vice grips and WD-40 were enough to loosen each.

Let me know your thoughts!

Thanks! She isn't as clean as I wish she'd be but I'm very, very happy with how it turned out. Everything moves smoothly now, even better than my main 10ER. I'm thinking I need to give my main a once over to compete.

I have it around somewhere. The SS didn't come with one, but I ordered one from Skip. I need to figure out where I put it!

Looks great. Its is amazing to me how cheap (or free in your case) these 10ER's can be obtained; yet, they are quite the treasure after cleaned up.

That's the idea.

I really love the bench, it sure is nicer than the one that came with my main 10ER. I'm thinking about swapping the two benches, especially since I told my wife I'll be selling the second SS. It was a condition of getting a CNC for the shop.

I think the biggest issue in swapping benches is that the holes won't line up because the 10ER models are slightly different.
