Classes with Nick in Dayton

I took in early November two "Master Classes" with Nick Engler and his super shop assistant Drew. I made a sofa table and a low boy with cabriol legs.

I lucked out and was the only student, hence master class. I am attaching the picture of both projects.

I learned so much and I been doing woodwork for several years. Being a tool junkie I have lots of other tools besides Shopsmiths. I encourage anyone who wants to learn, make sawdust and come out the other end with a great looking project to take a class with Nick. No matter what tools you have you be a much better woodworker on the other end.

The picture is attached.

John,
Those are two awesome pieces! Were you able to finish them at the school or did you do that at home?

Bruce, John, got as far as assembly in the time allotted. At the same time that John attended, I was casting around for something to show the quality of the pieces we are producing at the new Academy. Drew and I were impressed with John's workmanship, so we volunteered to help him with the finishing if he would let us use the projects for marketing and photography. Although we didn't do the finishing straight through, we kept track of hours and there is about twice as much time in the finishing of those pieces as they took to build.

With all good wishes,

John,

Outstanding projects. I'm highly encouraged that now I can learn to do that too. I gotta take those classes!

Thanks for sharing,
Hal
