I have removed the original headstock from my Mark V to the new Power Pro head. My question, what can you do with the old headstock. Just wondering. I have thought of using the motor for something else but the speed would be unregulated.

I upgraded and I hope you don't have an experience like me. My PP died and had to send it in for warranty replacement. I was then down in the shop waiting for the repair. I ended up buying a headstock case and using my old parts for a backup headstock which I used for two weeks till my pp came back. IMHO I would keep it just in case.

You can get all the parts on eBay to make a shorty to run SPT's if you have the room. That is what I did.

I agree with jsburger... make an eBay shorty, then you will have a spare if you have trouble...but my powerpro has run like a champ for over two years... I think the vast majority of power pros are operating with no problems.

Mine has been running fine for 5 years.

Either keep it as a spare or sell it to another local Shopsmith user who wants one. If you find a local user to buy it, you avoid shipping cost.

OR
You can donate it to my pile of parts and I'll pay the shipping.
Whatever you do, it needs to be preserved!

Thank you for your input. I will either make a shorty, sell locally or donate it. Thanks all you for your replies.
