Has anyone created a better way of setting the blade 90 degrees to the saw table than the one described on B-26 and B-27 of the S/S manual?

I have a 510 which was new in 1998 and converted to a 520 later.
I find the old S/S explanation in the manual cumbersome and not too reliable.
BTW I have found upgrading to the PowerPro well worth the expense and time it took to install.

I think you are talking about "Table Tilt". If I am correct - the answer is NO. The SS procedure works quit well. Now, if you asre asking "Are there other ways?" -- the answer is different.

I use a Wixey Angle Gauge. Zero it on the blade and then adjust for the angle I want. Different but not necessarily better.

Thanks for the response.
I'll try your idea since I don't like the results I'm getting using the S/S way. I find it to be inaccurate ( or maybe difficult to get a final adjustment) would be more succinct.

IIUC you are referring to the table zero stop.

A reliable square and patience has always worked for me.

You specifically said 90°. My previous comment was directed more at various tilt angles. To fine tune the table to 90° I often use this setup. The device shown is an adjustable stop collar and a table tube. For a very long time (before the stop collar was introduced by Shopsmith) I used a piece of threaded rod (all-thread).

In this picture you may detect that the main table is connected to the extension table. Obviously this connected must be disabled to adjust tilt.

I've ordered a wrixey angle gauge which i plan to use with my adjustable collar.

While looking at the pic showing the adjustable collar I saw what looks like a crafted mental piece held in place by two wing nuts.
Is that something you have created to help control dust or is it something S/S sells I don't know about?

All that I have done there is install a wing nut rather than what is on yours.

It is the Tie Bar Guard part number 514115 and is part of the lower blade guard system. Below is the one on my Mark V 520 with the original hex screws holding it in place. The Table is tilted toward the headstock for a better view.
