510 carriage modern vs old style

I am wanting to convert a 500 to a 510 / 520 using eBay sourced parts. Listings for the carriage state one is a modern style, the other lists it as an old style. Both are being sold as 510 carriages.
Is there a difference, and if so what is the difference?
Thanks

At some point Shopsmith introduced a split on the casting where the main table legs go in on the pinion side. I presume this was to make the table height lock more effective. But they are interchangeable.
Here's a post with photos that shows the difference.

Thanks. I zoomed the eBay pics for each listing and now see the split on the one listed as the modern style.
My plan is to start with the table, carriage , and fence and piece together a 520 over time. Sometimes I get frustrated by the eBay sellers busting apart assemblies. Although not in the market for a Shopsmith planer, I don't see any purpose for selling it piecemeal.

As long as you are piecing together a 520, you should know that there's a difference between the front fence rails. The current 520 front rails have a little ledge that has a magnetic tape glued to it. It is there to hold the rip scale rulers. The old 520 fence did not have the ledge or the capacity to take a rip scale ruler. I'd try to make sure they were all of the same kind.
