A-34 Jigsaw Blade Guide
Does anyone have a good picture of the A-34 Jigsaw Blade Guide. Part number 134-41. Just finished painting the jigsaw and noticed the guild was lost. It was most likely missing when I got the machine. Also what kind of metal was used. I need to see what the slot looks like. I can probably make one but I'll need the length too. Thanks for the help in advance!

Re: A-34 Jigsaw Blade Guide
It is a rod of some type of soft fibery material, to cut the slot you just mount the blade backwards and advance the guide into the blade. Apparently the same part was used on the later jig saw and may still be available.

Alternately you could use a wooden dowel.

The blade guides are available from SS. I just got some a few months ago. As rpd says the A-34 jig saw uses the same ones currently available from SS.csxeng wrote:Does anyone have a good picture of the A-34 Jigsaw Blade Guide. Part number 134-41. Re: A-34 Jigsaw Blade Guide
The Shopsmith 18" Jig Saw Model 610 or 505644 used the same part as a lower guide. It is part number 502286 and is called BACK-UP,LOWER price is $3.95, it is currently available. As parts for the Jig Saw run out, and since Shopsmith is not making any more parts for discontinued tools they will no longer be available. Like John I have bought some recently to have on hand. I have needed them a couple of times as I restored both types of Jig Saws.

I guess the Flexible Coupler is a discontinued item Too. Does anyone sell something like it.
Re: A-34 Jigsaw Blade Guide
Yes Lovejoy makes a coupler that will work. I am not sure what the part number is but someone here will probably chime in with the correct number.csxeng wrote:I guess the Flexible Coupler is a discontinued item Too. Does anyone sell something like it.

Re: A-34 Jigsaw Blade Guide
It is the Lovejoy L050X5/8HUB RSB (2 needed) and the L050SOX (1 needed). 2 hubs and a "spider" needed to make a complete unit. It is 3/32" shorter than the original hub and smaller in diameter. I have them for a Jig Saw I still need to restore that didn't come with one. The last time I needed a coupler for a Jig Saw restore I was lucky enough to find one with some parts someone was selling. That's rare.

Re: A-34 Jigsaw Blade Guide
I wonder how the original ones are assembled. I think it's like a shear pin. But what holds it together. I'd like to see one that's broken.

Two metal hubs connected by a rubber link molded onto the hubs.csxeng wrote:I wonder how the original ones are assembled. I think it's like a shear pin. But what holds it together. I'd like to see one that's broken.
