Hi Guys,
I recently bought another shopsmith. With it I got something I don't recognize and I am hoping someone here can tell me what it is.
I put pictures of it at
http://clarkenterprises.org/shopsmith/002.JPG http://clarkenterprises.org/shopsmith/003.JPG and
http://clarkenterprises.org/shopsmith/004.JPG
Please enlighten me.
Thanks,

I don't know what it is but if I had six or eight of them I could put them to work.
I would drill holes in my bench top to fit the "foot" on this item and use the screw to adjust the plate like a clamp. One on each side of something like "two pieces being glued together" for which you need pressure.

I agree with Dusty - it appears to be some sort of hold down device. Maybe part of a larger set? Steve

I think they are clamps from another manufactures knockoff of the Black and Decker workmate tables. Black and Decker made their that the whole table top moved in and out to form a clamp/vise. I have seen about 3 or 4 knock off where the table top is flat with clamps such as these used to clamp or form a vise against a backer or fence.

I think they're called bench dogs. If you've ever seen a woodworkers bench you'll notice they have a series of holes drilled into the top. That cylindrical section drops into the hole. Drop a couple in and you have an adjustable temporary vice.

Take a look at the "clamps" on this Ryobi miter saw....
Kinda look the same.

This looks just like the clamp on my miter saw to hold materials against the fence.

I think Albie just hit the jackpot. They sure do look identical. The funny thing about this is I bought a Mark V 500 about a month ago because I wanted the SS Planer that was with it. In with all the other stuff I got with that machine was one of these clamps. A couple week ago, I got the chance to buy a 520 and there was also one in all the stuff I got with it. That is why I thought it might be a SS part.
Well the mystery, at least for me, has been solved. I thank you guys very much. I did also try putting it in one of the "dog" holes on my workbench, but the shaft was too small to function properly there.
Guess I will go back to lurking again now.
Thanks again,

It looks EXACTLY like the holding bracket on my Ryobi chop saw. It fits in the hole on either side and the little L bracket holds it in place. The clamp screw pushes it against the back wall.
