I have been following a young couple as they build a house in Idaho.
It is timber framed house and watching that process was interesting. Then they covered the frame with SIPS (Structural Insulated Panels) installed the windows and now working on bathroom in the basement.
They have dealt with solar panels, lumbering their own wood, and basically the total construction of the house. On the side they gather food, plant water conservation gardens, process and can the food.
Also the husband worked through and got his pilots license.
Today they mentioned a storage locker full of tools they have yet to use that they got from an estate sale, in the list of tools Jesse (husband) mentioned a ShopSmith.

Also know they are perfectionist and are totally over building the place, short of fire the house will stand forever. And if it does come down there will be a fortune in screws.
