That's a lot of drawer boxes!

I'll get rid of 12 of them on two vanities.

But that's it for today. I'm on overtime!

That looks great! How long did it take you to make those?

I am about a week into this project but that includes design and Sketchup modeling time.

I use a lot of Festool domino's in my shop and a lot are basically for alignment when attaching face frame components to cabinet components. The traditional domino is great invention but with one major design flaw. That being that they are blunt on both ends making alignment of some parts difficult especially when trying to align something 4 feet long or longer. Also at close to $100.00 per box I have taken to making my own.

I start with stock that I have run to 5mm thick x 5/8" wide. Length is not that important but I find something around 12" works best.

I have this miter gauge set up with a simple block cut at 45 degrees. I lock it down into the miter gauge slot on the Mark 7.

Then spinning at 500 RPM's i chamfer both sides and both ends.

The result is an end that looks like this.

Then using a zero clearance jig on the chopsaw I cut them to length 7 at a time.

There isn't any room for error when holding them tight to the fence.

I cut both ends off yielding 14 dominos each time. I then go back to the Mark 7 and repeat the chamfering operation each time until I use up the length.

It doesn't take long to make up a few hundred. They are blunt on one end but chamfered on the other. I install the blunt end into the work piece first and the chamferd end really helps the alignment process.

I don't know how many are in a box but at $100, I see an opportunity here for after-market dominoes.

1800 of the 5 mm in a Box but they go pretty quickly.
