Had the opportunity to purchase a new-in-box Mark V 510 for a great price. It includes the belt sander, band saw, jointer, and dust collection system. However it has sat in a garage for a number of years. Everything seems to be in working order.

Except the headstock lock. That is stuck- I don't want to crank down on it and brake something so I just sprayed a little PB blaster in there to hopefully loosen it up. Any thoughts on getting it loose?

Welcome! Please do yourself a favor and read the notes regarding operation of the Shopsmith. Some things are not quite obvious to new users, ask me how I know that... often times when my headstock lock is being stubborn, a slight rap inwards with my palm on the lock knob breaks it free....

IIUC the wing nut will not turn.

Not an easy thing to relieve.

Penetrating oil and judicious torquing are required.

May require adding penetrating oil from the inside end of the wedges.

If however the wing nut turns but does not release the lock, determine which wedge is not moving. Then tap to get it to move 'out'. Both ends of the threaded rod are accessible.
