We all seem to have "Bronze member" under our name. What is the significant if any?

The "Bronze Member" is a type of ranking system, basically with each post that you make you will move closer to becomming a higher rank, Silver Member, Gold Member...

Any chance of activating the Avatar function for us mere mortals? ;)

I think the Avatar feature would be nice also. At least to the point of using something shopsmith related or woodworking related.

I am (I believe) mortal, but I have no idea what avatar is. Please explain so that I can feel more "human". Thanks.

An avatar is the icon that you see next to some of our username's. You can upload one for yourself here http://www.shopsmith.net/forums/profile.htm?do=editavatar as long as its less than 100 pixels x 100 pixels.

Avatar upload

I appear to have sucessfully uploaded an Avatar pic. I made it 99 x 99 pixels.
However, after I tried to upload it, I got a file upload failed (or similar) message. Any ideas?

Also, are all messages initially moderated? I find that after I've sent one, I can't view it as part of a thread.

There are 3 possible errors that I am aware of, one being image size too large, two being image memory too large, and the one I would assume that you ran into, since you were successful, the name of the image file was already uploaded. This is usually caused by attempting to upload the same picture twice, or clicking the submit button twice.
