Was asked to build a cook book holder for a kitchen counter , any one have any ideas ? will be using hickory and honey locust .
I have a few ideas but would entertain others thoughts.

Add a clear plastic shield to cover the open pages to protect them from accidental spills and splatter. Just a piece of clear plastic that can be laid or is propped over the open book that can be washed if needed. Not sure about who you are building this for but some of my husband's cookbooks cost more than a new set of jointer blades so protecting them is important.

this project was for my daughter , I coached her along and she ended up doing something like this, only out of cherry and 3/4 thick https://www.pinterest.com/pin/294845106846524748 She did a great job .

My wife likes to keep her recipes off of the counter when cooking. I made her a device that hangs from a cabinet door that keeps it at eye height. I can't get a pic right now, but I will try to get one soon. She usually has her recipes written/typed out or makes a copy of the page of a book, or gets recipes from the on line food prep sites like allrecipes.com. She uses a lot of King Arthur Flour recipes from their books who also keep them on line on their website.

Anyway, works for her.

years ago I made a box with short legs and a apple on top that held cards , she said she liked this one because it can be folded up and put in a drawer .
