Help Me, Please

I don't know whether it was on this forum or on one of the many others that I occasionally visit but somewhere I have been on a forum where the number of times a post had been viewed was reported. This forum reports the number of times an attachment has been viewed but does it do the same for a post that contains no attachments? If it does, please explain.
