Old Bandsaw Bearings and Incra Jig

I am always looking for ways to utilize some of the old parts that keep around after they have served their original purpose. I also constantly look for ways to make my Mark V perform even better. All of this with the caveat that I can't spend much money.

Last week the Traveling Academy (Rick Davis) was here in Tucson. One of the equipment items that he demoed was the Incra Fence System. The new ones are a lot nicer (Micro Adjust, etc) and are larger than the one I have. I hardly ever use mine, especially since I got the Pro Fence Upgrade but that might change.

The reason I didn't use it was because I could not keep the fence from moving. Now with the new rail system and the 5' extension tubes the Mark V Table is pretty darn stable. The only thing that still moves is the Incra Fence; well, I should say used to move.

After thinking about it, I decided that I had a new way to utilize at least two of the old bandsaw bearings that I have been keeping. They are now part of my Incra Fence System - which BTW is solid as a rock on the Shopsmith Main Table.

Three of the following five pictures will show clearly how I have done this. Cost - absolutely $0.00.

Continue to save those harvested and disgarded parts. Browse through them now and then. You never know what you might find.

Dusty,
Looks like a slick idea. I have never used a Incra fence, but I just might try and find a used one based on your fix of the stability problem. I should send you a box of old bearings and odds and ends just to see what you come up with. Great work.
