Hello,
For some reason I find the hardest time finding the same information twice here. I actually found the information earlier on my phone. However when I search this site for "replacing the Poly V belt" I get these results. What am I doing wrong?

Could someone direct me to the place to get instructions on this procedure ..greatly appreciated.

Did you look on the other two pages listed in your picture? The search will find any post with the words "Poly V" in it. Use the Advanced Forum Search, the link to the left of the Search box to refine your search.

I don't know is this is what you saw before but I believe this Sawdust Session (Number 4) will give you the info you want.

May I recommend that you browse through the entire catalog of Sawdust Sessions. There is a lot of very valuable info there.

Thanks for your reply John. But that's kinda my point. If I post a search question about replacing a poly v (belt) why on earth would the result bring up a post about (bearings) first?

The info I saw before is text only, and only addressed the replacement of the poly v, or gilmer..whatever the case may be.
However that video link should prove helpful however bad the quality..

Just remember, the Sawdust Sessions were made a long time ago. They were the best at the time.

I can't believe the poor resolution quality of those videos! Is that normal, or something wrong with my System set-up? It is only allowing 240 p max.
I can't see anything clearly.

Question: when I loosen only the large Allan screw holding the idler shaft, and eccentric bearing, with the loop & roll pin disconnected from the quadrant, Should the entire idler shaft be moving into the headstock freely?

I'm going to replace the Poly V belt as it was riding against the headstock so bad as to destroy the edge of the belt. I don't know if this is due to poor belt tension or something else going on.Also notice how the idler shaft doesn't seem to want to fit properly through the allowed hole in the belt cover.

Nobody has redone them somewhere?

The SS forum search function is rudimentary at best.

I will attempt to demonstrate in a later post.

Since the idler shaft shifts when the eccentric is adjusted for tension, the vent plate is also adjustable to provide centering for any eccentric setting. The two screws are in very large holes that allow that movement.

What is the poly-v belt rubbing against? It might be improperly installed on the idler shaft poly-v pulley.
