Started cutting some Dados this morning (pine) and before I finished the first cut the motor shut down and I got the message "low". I re-started, the motor came up to speed (3450) and finished the first cut but half way through the second, the same thing happened. I pulled the work back and pushed the start button before it stopped and it came back up to speed. If I let the motor stop completely the low message appears and you have to go through the confirm sequence to re-start but if you press start before it stops, it will come back up to speed. Not sure what is going on but thought someone else had the same or similar issue!

Just "Low", not "Low Voltage"?

Is the unit second hand or bought from Shopsmith? If second hand you will probably have no recourse. Is the system under warranty? The "low" message may refer to a low voltage condition from the power supply and by taking the load off the motor the power supply voltage builds back up and runs the motor until the voltage falls again. Can you monitor the line voltage while you operate the machine? That will tell if the problem is external or internal.

Yes, Just "Low" - not Low Voltage

Just finished the dadoes, the shutting down is intermittent, load doesn't seem to have an affect on when it happens. I cannot monitor the line voltage at the moment but that might be something that I need to do. It is not under warrantee, had the power supply replaced last year!

If the power supply was replaced last year there should be a warranty from the factory.

Thanks for your input! Apparently Duke Energy was having some transformer issues in our area. Whatever it was it is resolved and I'm back in business. The "low" message as it was shutting down is what was baffling to me.
