:)

Hello all,

I recently inherited a 10E, unfortunately most of the parts have gone missing. Is there anywhere I can get part either original or aftermarket? I would love to turn it into a lathe as I already have a table saw and drill press but I would like the ability use multiple systems. Any help is appreciated

Also MKC Tools.

As for stuff that mounts to the spindle — chucks, faceplates, drive centers, etc. — modern components sold for the Mark V and Mark 7 will fit perfectly.

When looking for replacement parts be aware that there were many changes to the Model 10's from the beginning in 1947 to the last Model 10ER in 1953. Most of these changes will not matter but some will. The headstock had 7 versions mostly from lock changes and the casting going from narrow to wide to hold the quill return spring in place. These are important changes as parts may not be interchangeable. Of course you most likely have the needed headstock parts. Changes made in parts like the blade guard, lathe tool rest assembly and others can be used on any Model 10. These were made to be able to be upgraded so a newer assembly can replace an older one. The extension table is a good example. The original extension table was wood but the metal one can replace it with the bracket and tailstock. Magna even sold a kit to do just that and included a new fence with the rear lock. If the quill return spring needs replacing, never fear the quill return spring used in the Mark V and Mark 7 today is the same along with the rubber quill bumper. As was mentioned before any item to attach to the quill's spindle made today will fit any Model 10 or Mark series tool. They all have the 5/8" reverse tapered spindle.

You did not say what parts are missing or if you have a manual for it. We can help if you post pictures of what you do have and go from there as to what you will need. If you do not have a manual for it check under the Maintenance and Repair section for Shopsmith Large Format Drawings, Illustrations and More by Everett Davis. This will be one of the first three topics. In it you will find a wealth of information on the Shopsmith tools. Some are directly linked there and others are on “My Google Drive” with documents too large to be directly linked. Everett has become the Shopsmith historian by saving and restoring manuals and other documents. I recommend looking there instead of buying copies of manuals on ebay. Why pay for something you can get here for free.
