Caster foot lever position, old vs new...
...Is there any way to relocate the foot lever on the older caster set? I upgraded to the newer big red tyres and now the foot lever hits the wider flange on the new wheelset. 1980's vintage (top) vs 1986 vintage (bottom). At some point they moved them over to what's shown in my second picture below.

Re: Caster foot lever position, old vs new...
Yes a know issue by us, shopsmith seems to have ignored it for the most part.
Several solutions have been done, one very simple one is to add a washer to the stem of the caster, I believe shopsmith now ships these with the upgrade??
This should work unless you find that the washer now prevents the machine from setting down firmly on the floor.
Some have ground a bit off the lever to get it to clear, it works but some are reluctant to do that including myself.
Which leads to the option of re-drilling the rod. This is a bit more involved and difficult but I feel it was the best option at least for me. If you go that route there is a post somewhere here giving some ideas how I did mine. BTW you will need to note how it comes apart with some pictures and or sketches other wise it becomes a puzzle when you put it back together.
The last but most costly option is to buy the whole assembly from shopsmith.
If I missed any other options someone else will surely remind us.
