I admit that I'm one of those people who use my router bits and ignore them. I'm using the same set of small router bits for around 25 years now and have not attempted to sharpen them at all. They are carbide and seem to work well each time I use them.
My larger bits for raised panel work are not that old, but I haven't done anything to them either.
Maybe I need to look at some sharpening work on them.

Reminds me of a story and demonstration that Mike Young did at one of the SS traveling academies. As some of you know he demos the band saw by making very quick free hand cuts of a flower and a cabriolet leg on the band saw. One day he decided to change the blade on the band saw because he had been using the old blade for years. He said he couldn't believe the difference. He actually had the old blade and put it and a new blade on the BS and let attendees feel the difference. The change is so small over the years you don't notice it or feel the change.
