Unusual Observation

The forum has been experiencing an unusual number of inappropriate postings. I have been watching this much more than I usually would.
Today, as an example, I see a birthday greeting for "williamlucas12326(40)". If you click on that name you will see what I am referring to. The post includes a reference to a web site. It has absolutely nothing to do with woodworking.
I suspect this to be a phishing expedition.
It can be even more disconcerting if you click on "new member" and pay attention to the origin of the post. I find many of them coming from offshore.
Certainly not all bad but all are initially suspicious (at least to me).
BE CAREFUL where you browse.

" I find many of them coming from offshore."
This is pretty useless information in this day and age. VPN solutions allow you to pick servers in many many countries from Albania to Vietnam. A simple click and you look like you are in a different county.....
I was quite busy yesterday reporting posts, and previous days as well. I don't know if I'm just lucky or if it is just the times I visit but I'd say I have had to report at lest 20 or more in the last week.
I think we got on a list of easy places to spam so this may go on for a while.

I recognize the text used in many of the posts to be either French or Russian, however, that in itself does not mean these posters are unwelcome. We have had active members from offshore. These folks are absolutely welcome here.
Then there are those that are NOT WELCOME. It is the Moderators that must attempt to either block or remove these folks. Blocking and/or removing those that are unwelcome is really not difficult (only time consuming). The difficulty is in identifying the unwanted.

"Those" of us that are not welcome generally get the hint after a while and stop posting here...it works out in the end.
