Re: A new owner of a shopsmith
A update
Back two weeks ago I decided to give the third Shopsmith (1980) to one of three people ( brother/ step-brother/ or the neighbor ). My brother say no he didn’t have room and he just come use my. So I ask my step-brother, he’s like “ what is it?. I told him a he took it, of course I gave him the carriage, tables, and anything that I have for more of or was a 500 setup, sanding disc, the band saw, jointer, and belt sander that came with my 1982.

Re: A new owner of a shopsmith
I finally got to use the Shopsmith DC3300 when I was cutting a PVC board.
It came with two hoses, 90’ brush, floor head, a 2 1/4” inlet plug, and a extension wand with and floor head from something.
When in use I hooked up one hose to two of the 3 inlets and the second one to the third one too the Mark V. After I was done cutting when to clean up the floor a was happy with extension wand with floor head. The hose I hooked up to two inlets had dust and debris in it instead of the DC3300. So I decided to going to Home Depot to pick up some things, like two extension wands, two inlet plugs, a third hose, two couplers, and a 2 1/2” reducer to 1 1/4” so I could use some of the DeWalt crevice head for cleaning up the nooks and crannies of the Mark V.
Well I didn’t fine plugs, they were out of 2 1/2” extension wand, and no 2 1/2” to 1 1/4” reducer . So I found 2” PVC caps, and a three piece pack that had the coupler, a 2 1/2” to 1 7/8” reducer, and a 1 7/8” to 1 1/4” reducer and I decided to get three 1 1/4” extension wands for now

Re: A new owner of a shopsmith
Really nice find. I have enjoyed using a Mark VII for several years. Take a care of the cam by regular oiling of the bearing and make sure the original switch is fully pressed when changing from forward to reverse and off. If you ever tear into the one with the Dayton (?) forward reverse switch pictures of how it is wired would be really great.
Mark 7 Power Pro, Mark V 510, Mark VII (early 1960s) Headstock wall mount drill press on Mark 5 way tubes, Mark 5 Shorty with reversible motor, Overhead Pin Router, Power station with band saw, Jointers, Belt Sanders, Strip Sander, Scroll saw, Jigsaw, Shopsmith Lathe Duplicator, Craftsman 2.5 hp 13" Planer/molder, Craftsman 5 hp 12-inch planer molder, myriad Shopsmith accessories, Harbor Freight sawmill with extensions to cut 22' logs.

Re: A new owner of a shopsmith
Redleg to first one only works in forward ( the one with the push button and it’s in sadder shape the the second one,).
The first one is 110v and the second is 240v. I don’t have 240v to the temp shop yet. I going to do most of the project on the Mark 7 and Mark V 520. The second Mark VII is more of show piece.

Re: A new owner of a shopsmith
Here are some of the things that came with the second Mark VII.
I can’t believe the Thickness of some of the blade to the newer ones. The last picture as three thing I’m Grateful to have gotten.

Re: A new owner of a shopsmith
There is no difference in the blades today as opposed to "older" blades. Well except that thin kerf blades were not available years ago. Your picture shows a full kerf blade that is 1/8" and a thin kerf that is 3/32". The full kerf blade is still the most common one today. They can be bought everywhere.SkullsquadronX wrote: ↑Sun Nov 08, 2020 6:47 pm Here are some of the things that came with the second Mark VII.

Re: A new owner of a shopsmith
I guess I got a sort of a dum question about the two Mark VII I bought. I was looking at Everett Davis My Google Drive Mark VII ‘60 pdf owner manual and there’s nothing saying what this red switch is or does? ( In the green ) The forward and Reverse on this one because it 220 and the push button on the 110 electric?
