DC3300 and the large hood

There has been some discussion on the DC3300 and the large hood. I'm convinced I would like to buy the large hood but before I do I have a question.
There is a rod that hold the large hood vertical, is that rod easily removed or not?
My problem is where I store my DC3300 has limited headroom. I would need to remove the rod for storage. Before I purchase the large hood I would like to know if I'm going to have storage problems or not.
Thanks for any info

Thanks Dusty
It appears the rod is easily moved up and down and removed if need be for storage.
Looks like a large hood my be in my future as soon as it goes on sale.

Me too! My original excuse (overhead space) for not ordering one in the first place is now gone! Like I said earlier - Live and Learn! Old enough to know better, but I'm just like others - - Too soon old, and too late smart.

BETTER order it online, I called and he wanted a promotion code. Which I didn't have. BUT ordered it online with no problem at that $57.42 price.

Hi Bob,
You can get the promo code from the e-mail you got from SS, if you got one.

Hi Ed,
After you get it, will you try the following and let me know how it worked?
For storage, try loosening the screws that hold the rod in place and see if the rod, still attached to the hood, will drop down, collapsing the hood as it is lowered.
Questions: Are you able to lower the hood and rod in this fashion?
If so... Does the rod "hit bottom" before the hood is "all" the way down?
Do you still feel comfortable repeatedly collapsing the hood in this manner?
What is the overall height of the DC when in this "lowered" position?
Thanks!
