I am very sensitive to your plight. I may be going down that same road sooner than expected. The wife and I are both approaching 80 and the yard and housework can sometimes exceed our limits. Check back in sometimes even if it is only to chat.

Very sorry that you will no longer be able to produce saw dust. I think I speak for all here when I say, we will still want your opinions on any questions asked. Your knowledge is still needed here.

I am quickly coming to that time in life where it might be better to stay out of the shop. I do not use my Shopsmith that much anymore mostly just home handyman stuff, but it seems when I do I forget something.

The Shopsmith is like an old single reflex camera. To take a picture you must set film speed, adjust aperture, set shutter time, check lighting, install flash if needed, focus and zoom in or out. I am getting to be a more point a shot person.

I use my Shopsmith and I forget something be it table height, fence lock down, carriage lock. Quill lock, speed, table levelness, out feed support, wheel lock down, push stick, hold down, etc.

I do it often enough that it scares me, which is one of the reasons I do not use it more. Last time I was using the molder and to make sure everything was right I was applying good pressure on the wood. The table height was not tight enough and I pushed the wood down onto the molder head. Needless to say the excitement it caused rocked me. I stopped and haven't used the Shopsmith since.

Single use equipment and me get along much better. They are just a dangerous but in most cases all I need to remember is where my fingers are.

Oh yes I now buy the molding I want instead of trying to make it.
