I don't recall when I got this but it has been a very long time ago. This was the first problem I had with it. Just old and brittle it looks like.

Found what I hope is a replacement on line and they will be here tomorrow. Right in the middle of a project and stuck until I can get it working again. I did think maybe I should get a new one but for the pair of parts it is costing me only $8.56 and delivery tomorrow.... Just hope I guessed at the right one, don't have a chart with Craftsman to Dremel models but it looks right.

I had the same part crumble like yous did a few years ago. I put in the same replacement part and it has been going strong ever since. I tend to use the Craftsman tool over the Dremel tool. A feature I have on mine is the "Drill" style chuck which is great for quick changes.

When to use my "dremel" tool today and it didn't start. Thought perhaps the outlet wasn't providing power but it was. Pulled it apart and my best guess is that power switch/speed control. I've had it a lot of years and a lot of the stuff I cut is not friendly to the inside of power tools.......

Rather then just buy a new one I'm going to try to replace that part. Part is on order, Dremel part was $23 but Bosch one was $12.49. Hope they are the same part???? I wouldn't mind getting a new one if I have to as they are very useful, at least for me.

Anyone else had that part fail?

The new part arrived much faster then they said, it came today the 9th of November rather then the promised 16th. Nice when that happens.

So the good news is that the tool is back up and running. The not so good news was that the "handle" was both to wide and to long. Nothing some filing couldn't fix but I spent about 45 minutes doing it. If I would have had a dremel tool to use it would have been like 5 minutes...... If I had to do it again I think I would spend the money for the right part and save myself the time and effort.

I was just looking back to when the coupler broke, just about a year and 2 months ago. My how time flies when you are having fun.

Couldn't you have used your Craftsman tool? Thanks for the heads up on the part. I have a Couple Dremel tools also. One is the standard corded type and the second is a battery one. I still find I use the Craftsman more often for the reason I previously stated. This is probably a good reminder to use some compressed air to blow out any dust and junk out of them.
