I think I have seen a clamp with this same sort of function but have not located one or figured out a name for them to search with. Below are to sketches as to what they look like.

The first sketch represents what I think I have seen and the second the function that I need.

I need two of these so I might just go with making them but would rather get ones made of metal....

So if you know of some clamp that has this sort of features and ruff size let me know.

I'm trying to clamp two work pieces of different thickness with one level top surface and the screw clamps holding them so I can work on them as single flat surface.

I have a clamp that looks quit different but functionally may do the same thing. It is a clamp used to hold work light on my work bench.

Ed,

Would this work? Amazon has these and you could use threaded rod to connect them together.

Use a regular C clamp with a board above the boards to be joined and a scrap below the thinner board to make it even with the bottom of the thicker board and then a board across the bottom of both.

Dusty got my mind going on some clamps I have from Bessey that mount using a small clamp and fit in the hole of the clamp body. I'll try and find mine and get a picture of them. Those and a square of plywood with some holes in the edge should work fine. More later.

I'll also check out those Amazon clamps and see if they are large enough, that would/could be another option.

Yes the c clamp idea would also work, in fact that is what I have been doing but wanted something a little more friendly if I can find or make it.

In some cases the boards might be of different lengths so then the clamps would work like this:

I found those little clamps I showed at Amazon:

I'm going to order a second set even if it turns out I find another way of doing this.
