I am requesting folks with a Stand-alone Scroll Saw who have the ability to post pictures, post some of the feed motor and data plates.

We have known issues with Planer feed motor brushes. I am suspecting there is a potential issue with the scroll saw motors that may be relevant and provide solutions to those problems. The speed control mechanism appears to be quite similar as well.

Everett I know this isn't exactly what you were asking for but I saw this on craigslist this morning and found it interesting since it has the speed controller on it. The seller says he has been using it to run a Band Saw and a Belt Sander.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help but my Scroll Saw is an SPT on a Power Station so not what you are looking for.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help but my Scroll Saw is an SPT on a Power Station so not what you are looking for.

That is not a speed controller. It is what the original plain on/off switch locked like on the older power stands. Notice the SS logo is not a rheostat. The newer stands have a paddle switch like the head stock.

Here is a quick shot of mine. It is a terrible picture I know. It is hard to take upside down. If you need a better shot let me know and I will turn the Scroll saw over to get a better shot.

Thanks everyone for posting. John posted what I was looking for on the motor. If you’re familiar with the Planer and Professional Planer feed motors which have reduction gears on the motor you will recognize that the brush holders are very similar to the VonWeise motors.

I don’t believe the manufacturer on the Scroll Saw motor is the same as Planers feed motors. I would bet the speed control is nearly identical if not exactly the same as one of the Planer controller versions we know of.

I am still trying to source a brush holder and brushes for the Planer I recently thought I had found a fifth type of Planer motor but it proved to be a Scroll Saw motor instead.

Now that I see the brush holder in John’s photo if I can identify the motor manufacturer, I may be closer to finding a suitable or adaptable part to fix some of the Planer motors with worn brushes.

Thanks everyone. I am now buying the Scroll Saw motor I found for sale so I can take a closer look. It comes with a controller so I will document both.
