A couple Christmas Gifts

If you've read my earlier posts- German Breakfast boards. This time with a base holder. Boards and coasters were Paduak, and the base was Russ ? Wood.

In the coaster slots-I was burning the board edge a bit which ended up giving a nice contrast to the wood and some presence to the empty slots...so I left it.

Also-I wanted to try my hand at a cutting board. Again working with the russ ? wood, paduak with osage (orange) added.

It was going well-until i trenched it and the router fence slipped...sigh.

Luckily , I had read somewhere that most boards have at-least 2 sides and after verifying that this was usually true via the internet, I was able to finish it out on the backside Now i just need to make some extra large feet to hide my error haha and I will finish with mineral oil.

Ha Ha! Yes, boards do have 2 sides

Also, my Liquid Hide Glue is reversible; the dispenser bottle will work with either face presented to me.

Most of my projects involve some sort of "accident" but eventually turn out OK.

Wow, the Osage and Paduak surely did pop! What’s the finish?

Nice save with the feet - the board looks great.

I just soaked it in Mineral Oil for 24 hours.

I havent figured out anything beyond that or Tried and True for food grade cutting surface coatings.

It will dull over time-but is pretty easy to refresh.
