has anybody made any led backyard lanterns.

looking for solar power

I think I could come up with the plans for the hanging unit,
it the finding of the LED panel and light source I think I need.

looking for plans--I do better with plans than using my brain

I have found LED lights on ebay and amazon for decent prices, last year I bought 25 8 ft garage lights fr aabout 1/4 what they would have cost locally and shipping was free from China ,check a website called pinterest for ideas , you will need to sign up , not sure about logging in on FB . the website does have a button for loging in using fb. https://www.pinterest.com

I think what I need is a small solar panel with led light on the bottom of it.
then I could build a lantern around it and probably put a mirror on the bottom to reflect the led light.

Would a solar landscape light put out enough light for you? I’m thinking that you could buy a complete unit and repackage the components to suit your needs.

that's would do it, not sure if it's cost effective, will check at the store, might be cheap enough. thx

In your planning do not forget about the battery. Solar lights charge a battery by day and run the light from the stored battery power by night.

The battery or batteries need to be put somewhere in your lantern. Depending on how much light and how long you want the lantern to produce light will decide on the battery (size) you need. Then the solar panel needs to be sized to provide enough juice to charge the battery.
