I finally received the correct order, my filter hood. It wasn't as messy as I thought it would be to replace the old one. I did rock it back and forth to get as much sawdust in the bag. Before I removed it. It went well and now I have the 42" hood in place. I believe that it might have been Ed in T. that asked about the new height, it's 86".

Hi beeg,
Wood you consider answering the questions that I presented to Ed in post 9 of this thread?

It helps me! Thank you, Dusty! Paragraph #6 at the top of page 4 answers the question for me. If the support will slide upwards - it'll also slide down. Seems one would have to be careful when tightening the screws to not enlarge the holes in the legs of the 3300.
Also noted the last paragraph in the PDF. To me this casts doubt the weave is smaller on this hood than on the smaller ones. I'll have to call and ask!

Look at the Efficiency chart on page 23 of the catalog. Doesn't the smaller weave relate to the size of the smallest microns captured? The 42" hood is claimed to be more efficient than the others.
42" Filter Hood

I just installed my new 42" hood yesterday. I found that drilling a 1/16" pilot hole worked better for me than just a center punch as was stated in the instructions. Threading the strap was a bit more tedious, especially through the seam but it worked! The material of this hood appears to be thinner than the original but it may be that it is a different material to achieve the 1 micron filtering capability. I too have limited storage space and the ability to lower the rod appears to solve the height issue. It states in the "directions" that maximum filtration will not be achieved until the interior of the bag is coated with dust. My question is, will raising and lowering of the bag dislodge the coating and eliminate or reduce the filtering advantage over the standard bag?

"Hi Ed,
After you get it, will you try the following and let me know how it worked?
For storage, try loosening the screws that hold the rod in place and see if the rod, still attached to the hood, will drop down, collapsing the hood as it is lowered.
Questions: Are you able to lower the hood and rod in this fashion?Yes
If so... Does the rod "hit bottom" before the hood is "all" the way down?Yes
Do you still feel comfortable repeatedly collapsing the hood in this manner?NO
What is the overall height of the DC when in this "lowered" position?"58"
The new filter hood came in a five foot long box, and the hood was ONLY folded lengthwise. That's why I wood knot feel comfortable collapsing the hood after each use.

Thank you gentlemen,
dusty for providing the instruction sheets for the 42" hood, and
Bob for answering my questions.
I think that I wood try to keep the hood at it's full extension all of the time. And knot clean it.
