Cutting down way tubes on a 520?

I am thinking of cutting the way tubes on my 520 down 15 inches. At that length are there any issues with being able to use all the basic functions of the SS? I look in search but did not find any think that referred to this question. If I missed it I am sorry for repeating it.

Are you thinking of cutting off 15" because of a space issue? Just wondering why you want to make it shorter. You will be cutting the lathe length capacity by almost half. Another thing you will be limiting is the drill press function but you can still use horizontal drilling.
