Joe,

Are you looking to purchase new or used? Do you plan on wearing a respirator in the shop, or do you want to go mask free and minimize breathable sawdust in the air? You'll find lots of opinions on this forum or other woodworking sites with regard to which dust collector to get, but a lot of the answers depend on your specific shop, your budget, the tools you have and the distance from them to your dust collector.

So, first off, this recent thread related to the DC-330L got no responses from actual owners of this dust collector. Maybe those owners just aren't actively posting on this forum at this time or maybe it didn't sell many units. So, we are limited to the 2 online reviews for feedback on the DC-330L at Shopsmith.com (reviews were not good). Please check out this recent thread on the DC-330L (https://www.shopsmith.com/ss_forum/wood ... 23488.html). So, the DC-330L appears to be just a Shopsmith re-branded/copy version of the Rikon 60-100 dust collector which is most likely manufactured in China. Presumably the DC-3300 is still manufactured by Shopsmith in the US which possibly explains the higher price for lower specs. Speaking of specs, below are the basic specs to compare these two Shopsmith dust collectors. Many Shopsmith owners have the DC-3300 and it is more than adequate for dust collection from a Mark V, Mark VII, 10ER, etc., etc. HOWEVER, because it uses a filter hood rather than a HEPA filter, it DOES expel very fine dust particulates (not visible to human eye) that are considered dangerous for your lung health...so a respirator is really required to be worn in your shop even if using the DC-3300 or DC-330L. Just my opinion, but you will find a lot of research to back me up on this online. Personally I think there are better options out there, both for your health but also for the value you get for what you pay for (see links below for other options). Below are some additional links to review if you have the time. Best of luck on your dust collector search.
