Hello
I bought a shopsmith at yard sale that is missing the headstock. THere is no model number or serial number on the base but the scroll saw has Model number 555220 and the band saw has model 505641. I am looking for a headstock for it but not sure which model headstock to look for ?
New to Shopsmith and most of my tools are Ryobi or Craftsman so this all looks like a jigsaw puzzle to me. LOL

It does not matter! ANY Mark 5, Mark V(500-520) will work(well)).

I guess it is late 70/early 80 but it may be earlier IF it has wrinkle paint.

So the choice is up to you.

A brand new M7 headstock will do in a pinch!

It looks like somebody either cannabalized it for some parts or they removed the headstock and didn't know the correct way to do it.
Some reassembly required if you find a headsock and likely some missing parts too.

A carriage and main table would be useful.

If it is not going to be fun for you, don't do it. There definitely are those who would think it to be a "ball". I would volunteer to take that stuff off your hands in a minute.

Go for it. Believe me, you also will have a ball. Frustrated at times but still a ball.

However, in the photo image, this appears to me to be a shortened version (a Shorty). If it is not cut down the exposed bench tubes will measure 48" long.

Good catch Dusty, but the way tubes look full length???

As has already been said any Mark 5/V headstock will do. The difference in the Mark V models 500, 505, 510 or 520 is the Table System. The Headstock and Bench made at any time will be the same. There are different versions of the Headstock made through the years. The Mark 5 first came out in 1954 with the "A" Headstock, It was soon changed in late 1955 to the "B" Headstock. In 1980 They were changed to Mark V from Mark 5 on the machine. In 1991 the "C" Headstock was introduced. Find a gray Headstock reasonably priced and it will fit right on your Bases Way Tubes. The Model and Serial Number for a Mark 5/V are on the Headstock.

The Shopsmith Mark 5/V has been painted in three different color schemes. First in the 1950's was the Greenies followed by the Goldies in the early 1960's than the Gray color still used today.
