Welcome thread

I looked, there are 1000's of threads but never found the welcome one, So...
Hi, My name is Stephen.../Steve and I just bought a 1955 greenie. Out from someone's back yard.
So this is a refurbishment, not to be confused with a restoration k?
I need the owners manual and cannot find one. Everett's Google drive link had no joy
It came with a 4" jointer, "Magna Eng. Corp", so i know it should be close to original.(pre 12/55 when the name was changed)
It runs, needs bearings and a quadrant and a Gilmor belt but everything is solid. No bad noises and am using it till i really need to replace parts.
Well. it IS for someone else but I'm putting it through the paces so it's good to go.
Everything has been cleaned, interior and out and repainted...sigh.. yeah about that... When I was in construction my motto was "The customer is always right, Paint it pink if they ask"... another sigh... This is the 1st time in 35 years someone actually asked for that. So yeah It is PINK, and Black.
The only thing I never touched was the quill spring assy. I figured, it ain't broke. go with it.
So here I am, soon to lose a relic to someone else. I've personally owned two Goldies though. That was what made the decision to fix this one.
Hi everyone!

Hi Stephen, Welcome to the Forum.

Starting your own thread as you did is the best way to start. It gets your questions out there in one place which we are happy to answer. We also love seeing pictures both before, during and after for restorations so I look forward to seeing the now pink "Greenie."

Right now Everett's Google drive has the first three Mark 5 manuals there. From what I see in your picture your "Greenie" would use one of these first three manuals depending on when it was made. A serial number would tell us that. Operations for the Mark 5 with the "A" headstock are basically the same as the later Mark 5 with the "B" headstock except the high speed lock was discontinued and of course parts differences shown in the exploded diagrams and parts lists. Everett is currently working on the 5th edition which is for 1955's made after the change to the "B" headstock in October. For those wanting the 4th edition (Aug. 55) don't worry that will come along as will later editions. Everett is not simply taking scans of the manuals and putting them into PDF format. He goes through each page "cleaning" them up to make a good quality restoration of each document he makes available to us. A big thanks to Everett for all of his work for us.

Thank you. I live in a 2 room apartment. All the cleaning and wet sanding was done in my shower.
Every nut/bolt/washer ...and other parts were wire brushed. cleaned and painted. Yes...the nuts for the caster lifts are black.
All parts were 3x primed and 4x enameled, spray can of course.
Those pics soon. it is late here.

Thank you. I really think I may look for another one, this time to original colors.
